For over sixty years a launderette has operated at 11 St. Gerard Street in Limerick city central. Initially it offered both self-service washing and drop-off & collect. In 1983 Mrs Anne Leech took over the business, adding steam-pressing and finishing of dry-cleaned items. We have the only 2-hour laundry service in Limerick. We also offer a 24-hour dry-cleaning service. A shirt/blouse service is provided for professionals. All personal clothing is washed, dried and folded.
We also provide a household laundry service for bed linen, dining-room linen, curtains and furniture coverings. This service handles all grades of duvets up to eiderdown along with covers and quilts. In addition, we cater for special garments like silk scarves or ties as well as apparel in leather and suede.
Our Ethos
Each item received is cleaned with the greatest care, adhering to international standards specified on its manufacturer's label. Our customers invested good money in their garments and household fabrics. We maintain that investment for them.
We always aim to satisfy our customers, whatever their needs or wherever they come from.
People from Limerick city, its environs and the county. People from the continent, America, Australia, New Zealand or the Far East. People travelling on vacation or business, or assigned to multinational companies. For decades we have provided quality laundry and dry-cleaning services for them all.
So if you have a problem cleaning clothes or home items, please call us or stop by our shop.
As always, we will do our best for you.
Through The Years
In the early days, we operated as both a self-service launderette and a drop-off/collect laundry.
As hard as those times often were, there was always an opportunity for people to meet and talk through the matters of
the day with neighbours and friends.
At that time St. Gerard Street had a number of other small businesses like Noonan Joinery,
SignCraft and Sean O'Brien Grocers. The Limerick Post's
local business column, Street Traders, spotlighted this street in the 80s. The cutting below
details our business.
